Also called crimson clover - not as common as some clovers - most clovers favour cultivated or disturbed sites. Clovers are cosmopolitan exotics.

Well it is exotic in Australia, so not a native. But it is though to be native to a large number of other countries (the cosmopolitan bit). There are some native Australian plants that are also cosmopolitan - so they would be an Aussie native that is also cosmopolitan.
