It is hard to tell from the photos. Acacia pycnantha has a central vein with secondary veins diverging from it. I cannot quite see that.

The whitish stem and branches makes me think that it is Golden Wattle which is thought to be "local" to Mt Ainslie

I'm not too sure if this one has the central vein. I tend to think not. I'll go back in the next few days and will take another photo of the leaves.

I've put more photos of the leaves up. Clearly no central vein, so I don't think it's a A. pycnantha. What else could it be?

Perhaps acacia melanoxyalon

The leaves appear to be much wider than 30 mm, the widest in the descriptions in PlantNET and VicFlora. However, I cannot think what else it could be. VicFlora has notes on three allied species - Acacia melanoxylon as above, Acacia implexa, with leaves to 25 mm wide, and Acacia frigesecens, whose leaves are to 50 mm wide but which has branchlets with a waxy bloom. Perhaps wait till there are ripe seeds and pods.
