Not a beetle but a jewel bug, Scutiphora pedicellata, Scutelleridae. See page 156 of my book. For difference between bugs and beetles see my book page 30

Roger, I have put this in the sub-category for Shield bugs, but do you want a separate sub-category for jewel bugs too?

Michael, Jewel bugs are not a sub category of shield bugs but an equivalent family, Scutelleridae. Unless you want to add another group to true bugs I suggest including them in 'other bugs' at this stage. Stink or crusader bugs belong to the family Coreidae including Mictus and Amorbus. Other stink bugs belong to the family Tessaratomidae, but only one species is common localy, namely Musgraveia, so this could go in 'other bugs'. There are many other families of true bugs whose species will be submitted as the season progresses and we will have to decide how to deal with these on the day.

For the purpose of clarity, I have added another sub-category to True bugs, with the name Jewel bugs, and put the species in there.
