I downloaded the image and cropped it, then added it back for use on the species page, see:

One day when we have some time, we can automate this cropping exercise with a little handy drag and drop crop function that would do it all in one go. I WISH I had the time to build it right now.

That would be great! Also, would there be any way of the system automatically shrinking large images before upload for faster upload? My images are around 6MB, and because the upload takes for ever at full size, I have to always make a copy, resize it, save it, and then upload it, which takes a fair bit of time and hence results in a backlog of images I have to find time to upload. I realise that this could very well be not possible, but then, I don't have a clue...

Hi Ryu. If you search the internet you should be able to find a way to resize your photos in bulk.

Yep Ryu it's hard because the server can't do anything with your images until they are uploaded! You need the NBN, what kind of internet connection have you got? Yes agree with Michael B, look for a decent free bulk image resizer, there are tons. And just make sure it doesn't corrupt or strip out your image EXIF/GPS data in the process of resizing them.

Okay I will have a look around, but I think I will keep doing what I already do for now, at least I understand exactly what is happening to my images that way
