If it is leathery in texture, with pores on the underside of the cap that would be evidence in support of this being Laccocephalum hartmannii (though the best macroscopic evidence would then be underground, in the form of a pseudo-sclerotium, i.e. a matted mass of soil and fungal tissue). It's very much like one I've seen also in Black Mountain and, from recollection, the surface of the cap has a velvety feel. If this is pored and fleshy or gilled then I can't immediately think of a possible genus.

Since Laccocephalum is highly plausible (even if not proven), I'll stick that genus on this photo.
