I have always thought of this as an exotic weed. It certainly behaves as a weed in my garden. It is quite common on footpaths and roadsides.

Hi Mike - it does behave as a weed - a quote from ALA.

Portulaca oleracea is a species which occurs world wide and which has escaped from cultivation in parts of Australia. It is generally regarded a weed but, none the less, it is an Australian native plant.
