This seems to be one of the purple Calvatia species. I wonder about the location which appears to be in an old farm dam if the google image location is correct, but perhaps the dam had dried out when the Calvatia image was recorded.

It was just beside a dam (which was at half-capacity), but I don't think it would have been inundated at any stage. Camera GPS must have been a tad off
