Looks like a Hakea; perhaps Hakea decurrens which is described for Black Mountain - the local parkcare group might know. Waltraud

That is exactly it Waltraud! Thank you. This species has been bugging me for a while. After looking up images, this is exactly the species, it has the identical woddy nuts and flowers exactly the same. Then I've read that the Walkers of the Australian Native Plants Society have recorded this species in exactly the same location as I took found these ones. This is definitely it.
