User's notes

A single plant in a very unusual spot. Not reported here before and seems a weird place to find it!?!? Actually there's a second one that's been grazed off right next to it. Two plants in total.

Upon further inspection, I think there was another 5 or so shoots surrounding this plant, but none of them had buds or flowers, they may have been grazed or not yet developed.. Still I can't believe where these were!

Sure is a strange beast. Never seen one of those before.

Tobias this was right near your really early flowering atrovespa single plant. Remember that spot? Crazy that these were there in the same little area.

Good find Aaron. Not far from a known Lyperanthus colony so not surprised to find it there.

Good to know Tony... I was very surprised to spot this one as this species wasn't even on my radar...

Your directions were spot Aaron and found it almost immediately. However, didn't see a single flower, there were in fact 5 flower spikes in one grass clump that I could see from the road and 3 metres to the right another grass clump had 3 flower spikes, so in fact a significant colony.

Good to hear Tony - if you saw the 5 spikes then the flower would have been super obvious, so it must have been chewed off by some hungry roo which is a bummer.

I'd like to see some hungry orchids chew on some roos...

Perhaps my comment wasn't clear. Didn't see any sign of grazing. Every flower spike had several flowers. There were at least two separate colonies. Not even sure that we saw your plant, but it was definitely the same spot.

Oh sorry yes I did mis-read that Tony. Brilliant news... Were they fully opened up and developed?

Yes fully open.
