Although recorded from about 20 locations in the ACT, no records have been made for 15 years and I suspect that it is often overlooked. There are 17 or so records from Namadgi (all from the 1980s) two records from the Belconnen Naval Transmission Station, one record from Dunlop Grasslands and one record from the vicinity of Cooleman Ridge, and now this one from Rob Roy. One to keep an eye out for.

Hmm interesting. This looks kind of similar to that really common ground cover type stuff. What's the main way to differentiate to be sure it's a Pennywort?

There are several different local Pennywort species. This one grows in wet places, such as in or near creeks. I think the one you are talking about is Stinking Pennywort, which gets its name from the odour of the flowers, and is very common on the hills around Canberra.

Ahh got it. Thanks Michael B. Yes this is the exact one I was thinking of: http://canberranaturemap.org/Community/Sightings/Details/35020 I see it all the time. Even often growing side by side helmet orchid leaves.

Yeah, I see this species relatively often along creek margins and in tempory pools. It's resonably common.
