It's an old sighting but I thought it was worth recording. Unfortunately I haven't seen them since. Maybe someone tried digging them out because I saw a straight-edged hole which looked as though someone used a spade. Anyway, I keep looking.
Hmm weird Mike. I hope that wasn't the case. Re: the D. revolutum at Mount Majura this year, many of the large colonies from last year couldn't be seen this year. They just didn't even pop up and flower much, I even struggled to find the rosette leaves in the exact locations where they were. But a couple of plants flowered. I got the sense that it may have been a bad year for the autumn orchids.
Yes it was a very poor year for the autumn flowering orchids, the rain was too little and came too late. Hopefully the rain we are getting at the moment will bring on the spring flowering orchids.
Hi Aaron, the colonies of Acainthus collinus I checked recently had reasonable numbers of leaves but very few flower shoots. Corysanthes hispida had good numbers of leaves but no flowers visible. Probably a bit early for C. incurva. This rain may help things.
