I can see pores on the underside - hence, not a Podoserpula. Perhaps a species of Postia.

Thanks. You have solved the problem of what has been shredding aspera leaves at various sites that I have observed over the years. The adult beetles are relatively short-lived so you were in the right place at the right time!

@rogerf yes, it is, or at least it appeared to be. It wasn't actively feeding at the time but it was sitting on a leaf which had been extensively chewed.
