User's notes

Assumed to be a fungus. A small group of them was sighted high up on a dirt embankment amongst a patch of lichen. The tallest was around 5mm in height.

All of it is lichen, the brown 'caps' being where the fungal partner produces spores. Presumably a species of either Cladonia or Dibaeis.
