User's notes

This meaty and robust fly was the size of two M&Ms but not an appetizing snack. What caught my eye was its ability to hover. I could see it still in the air rubbing it's feet together. I've seen them as individuals or rough groups of up to about 10, though that was in a corner of the cabin where they might have been trapped together. They seem to be around for the Christmas / new year holiday in Bungendore. They like flying under the eaves of the cabin 2-3m off the ground pausing mid air to look in through the windows. Not abundant, not spotted every year.
