Huge number of galls on this Acacia melanoxylon, some ~15cm in length.

Are you sure about the host identification? I suspect the tree is Acacia implexa, if so then the fungus is most likely to be Uromycladium implexae.

@KenT that is most definitely Acacia implexa, not A melanoxylon.
