User's notes

Historic photos: First I thought human vandals; then, a couple of days later I saw the "vandals" at work: a flock of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo hacking trees of Eucalyptus such as this Apple box. They are omnivorous and would use their strong bills to access the larvae of wood-boring moths of the Cassidae family; I took the second photo of a hacked Euc tree close to the first 2 weeks later.
