Solo male - seems youngish. Red crest not vivid At first thought it was female but has red crest. Not sure if a nesting location

Yes, an immature young male with only a partially red helmet.
I didn't realize before that immature males have also these colour-fringed chest feathers which give a kind of barred effect like in an adult female Gang-gang.

From memory Gang gangs only reach sexual maturity at the age of 3/4. This bird is definitely younger than that.
