trapped inside, but no obvious cause of decease. Bats intrude from time to time, house is on a ridge presumably a flight path

Thanks, there are several small bats in the family Vespertilionidae that all look very similar and it's hard to distinguish them without taking precise measurements. I can't quite see enough detail to confirm all are the same species, but looking at the ear shape I think it's one of the 3 species of forest bat (genus Vespadelus) that occur locally.
