Found in Kambah backyard. It had a wound on its head - obviously been pecked by a bird - likely a Peewee that was seen in the area. Lizard was still alive but not well.

Thanks Will. This record actually came via Bill Handke who pointe out to me that "Ross Bennett’s book on Reptiles and Frogs reckons that Jack Lizards are not found in urban areas". Looking at the 261 Canberra Nature Map records for this species it does seem that it avoids urban areas, perhaps they are just too hazardous?

That is a good suggestion Michael. I have spoken to many cat owners over the years who live near the urban edge and it is surprising the number of lizards (and small snakes) that cats bring in. Some owners reported that their cat had brought in more than twenty lizards in a year. So life would be hard for larger lizards that are in the ideal size for catching - like jacky lizards and Cnenotus skinks.
