We have a little red flying fox in our front garden. Arrived here 2 days ago. Has been attacked by a currawong on occassion. Disappeared yesterday but back today.

How sure are you it was a little red and not grey headed flying fox? It's difficult to confirm ID as little red flying fox from the pics, in at least one it looks like the collar is red but the back dark like on great headed flying fox which are generally the main flying fox we see in Canberra.

Looks more like a grey-headed flying fox to me, as the neck seems to be too light for little red and it seems to have a dark grey/black head in the first picture.
