User's notes

Fascinating. Feed time gets shorter every day, and the parents move further from the hollow. Today, both Mum and Dad were in a tree facing the hollow. Each of them talked softly, and the baby would coo back from deep within the hollow, but would not appear. Mum fed it two very short feeds. Dad talked softly again, even landing in the tree to look in the hollow, then landing on the edge of the hollow (but he would not feed it), encouraging the appearance of the baby. Nope. Nothing. Dad flew off. Baby called a few times, then a couple of minutes or so after Dad left, when all was quiet, and I was just about to look down at my phone . . . I saw some movement at the hollow. A little white beak, tentatively exploring, followed by the head of an immature male peeking over the rim, eyeing off the world. He experimented a bit, stretching his wing, gazing around. Dad flew back - and suddenly, there was no visible young - just a plaintive calling from deep within the hollow. Hilarious!
