Shinglebacks find yellow flowers of many native species very appealing to eat. They also very much like to eat the flowers of weeds such as capeweed and dandelion (who gets priority?). Cheers Will
Will - This year, the shingleback does, as there are so few flowers. In other years, when I have found them scoffing my yam daisies, I have got very twitchy. Have you seen them eating Hypochoeris? I haven't, but I would be very grateful if they did. Sue.
Hi Sue - I am not sure if I have seen shinglebacks eating Hypochoeris (it may have been Taraxacum). Sorry to not be more helpful. I am really interested in this possibility of impact on some of the asteraceae species. Shinglebacks have a bit of a hard time from domestic dogs and there have been some very mysterious deaths of shinglebacks in the Majura reserve that have come to light from several regular reporters on the nature map site. Will.
