These photos show various fruit bodies from one herbarium collection. The specimens were dried after collection. However, the fruit bodies have a low water content and so look much like this out in the wild (particularly in dry conditions). The main purpose of this photograph is to provide a contrast with (Fungus Cyathus stercoreus on 15 Apr 2005). In the inset you see three spores. These fruit bodies were collected from herbivore dung in a grazing paddock. The site was sparsely grassed and totally exposed to sun and wind and my guess is that they had been exposed to weathering for quite some time.
