User's notes

Very small plants growing in mud and water. Possibly a male flower in bottom left of third image. Pinkish structures perhaps buds or fruits. Suggestion is only a possibility but I'm far from confident.

I am happy with Callitriche. The ACT Plant Census (2017) states that sonderi was formerly present, and does not mention stagnalis. However, I have noted in my fact sheets that mature seed cases are needed to ID to species level.

The plant is Elatine gratioloides. I recently collected it in one of the dams in Mulligan's Flat; the flowers are tiny, have three pinkish petals and a flattish fruit (there's one just out of focus in photo 4).

Thanks Rosemary, I had wondered what was going on at the edges of the leaves when I looked at the images - it appears the leaves of Elatine gratioloides have glands on the margins, Callitriche seems not to.
