H. hydralis has a triple peaked white 2nd line rather than the double peaked line in this specimen, and also a nearly straight 1st line separating a pale marginal fascia, rather than the zigzag 1st line and the brown marginal fascia of this specimen.
Re ID of Andy Russell's sighting 3872392 as Eastern Halone Halone coryphoea. My Sighting 4186059 of the same moth at same location and date on the same plant was ID'd as a Pyralid moth Oenogenes fugalis. Which is correct? Or did Andy and I see two different species as identified?
Thanks Andrew: on further consideration I think the white forewing markings on sighting 3872392 are also more consistent with those of Oenogenes fugalis than with those of Halone coryphoea.
