This is different to the other Barea codrella report. It is an Ardozyga species (Gelechiidae), near nyctias and cryptosperma.

OK, I was influenced by the similarity of my image with the image of B. codrella attributed to Jenny Holmes on the ALA at https://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:biodiversity.org.au:afd.taxon:451e399e-5e94-4e88-afd7-68d75fa5b8e9#gallery -although I admit my photo is not good or sharp. I can now see both the Ardozyga sp. on Bold Systems 4 but neither seem to show the prominent white spot to the rear of the thorax very often although the head shape of my specimen may be closer to Ardozyga sp.; but from what I can see they are also quite variable. I don't see the white tip to the labial palpi which seems to be present in A. nyctias.

Happy to go with Ardozyga sp. though.

The white spot seems to be much more visible on a live specimen with closed wings than on set spread specimens, with half of it displayed on each wing.

I was off track here. Looking again, the photo has the features of a very dark specimen of Barea codrella.

OK. These have been quite common at O’Connor witin the last few days. I would guess in a ratio of about 6-8 black form specimens to each one of a lighter colour.
