These were on the underside of well-rotted wood that was lying on the ground. In the second photo the arrow points to an immature fruit body and in the inset at the lower right I show a fruit body even smaller and less-developed than the arrowed one. Initially the fruit bodies are almost ball-like (albeit with a mouth) and, with age, the ball expands and the mouth widens.
