Cassia Read & Bernard Slattery have produced a very nice, small field guide (Mosses of dry forests in south-eastern Australia, 2014) in which they include one species of Breutelia, for which they say “in winter male plants grow distinctive flower-like structures, pale green with a red heart” – exactly as shown here.
