I found this little guy snuggled up under a sheet of black plastic protecting a mattress in my garage. I'd noticed droppings over a couple of weeks that I had attributed to mice. Sadly, after I disturbed it, it didn't come back.
Hi Alison, Are there any photos showing the face or the underside? I suspect either Chalinolobus morio (Chocolate Wattled Bat) or C. gouldii (Goulds Wattled Bat).
Hi Michael, My initial reaction on seeing the ear was Nyctophilus too but after looking att other photos I changed my mind. You did the right thing to refer to Greg Richards. Michael Pennay would be another possibility.
