Caper Whites are starting to migrate through our region at the moment. Yellow Albatross are far less common migrants here and ACT records tend to be later in the season.

Did not know that butterflies migrated. Do you know where these come from and where they are going to? What sort of distances?

Some ACT butterflies are migratory but most are residents. The movement patterns for our migratory butterflies are not well understood unfortunately.

And you wouldn't be able to put trackers on them either!

They were not electronic trackers, but researchers in the US and Mexico did stick tags onto the wings of Monarch butterflies and asked people to report any they found. The tags had contact details printed onto them I think.
