There could be more than one smallish, grey Tricholoma growing with pines in the ACT, for that is the case in Europe. However, until there is more study of the Australian specimens, Tricholoma terreum is a convenient pigeon-hole and a way of clearly distinguishing these pine-associated Tricholomas from others in the genus.
